Does your family have a go-to holiday recipe? A recipe handed down for generations? I was the lucky recipient of one of my mother-in-law’s recipe books – a collection of recipes written in her hand.
One of those recipes is the go-to recipe in our house, it is Mom M’s Snack Mix. We make it almost every Christmas. (It would be good anytime.) We do not know where she got it or when, we just know it is addictingly good and it reminds us of her.
Recipe: Snack Mix – Mom M’s
1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
2/3 c. oil
2 tsp. dill weed
Crispex, Pretzels, Ritz Bits, Peanuts, Bugles (Sour Cream or Regular)
Whisk ranch dressing, oil and dill in a small bowl. Put mix in roaster pan. Drizzle oil mixture over mix. Bake in 200 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours stirring every 1/2 hour. Store in an airtight container. Makes 9 cups.
NOTE: We don’t measure the mix, equal amounts (2-4 cups of each) except peanuts. Use half as much of peanuts, they are small.
