Daily Prompt: Compromise
Again this year, on February 14th a 19-year old former student walked into a high school in Parkland, Florida and gunned down 17, students and teachers, with an assault rifle that he had purchased legally. Our President and elected officials sent their thoughts and prayers. Students in the school called for action. “Now is not the time to talk about gun legislation” they are told. For those who saw and experienced this horrific action, now is the time. For them there is no Compromise.
These brutal mass killings, in America’s schools, churches and at other outdoor events are unacceptable. We are supposed to be a civilized society. Let’s put an end to it.
Enhanced background checks and addressing people with mental heath issues are commendable. We need to do those regardless. But then what? It is time to make it illegal to buy, own or possess an assault rifle. These guns were designed and built to kill people? Get them off the streets and out of our society.
For me, I stand with these young people, there is no Compromise. I will not vote for or support any politician that does not share my viewpoint.
In a previous blog post I wrote about a “youthquake” I think/hope we are seeing one.
I agee with your stand. There are a lot of petition started in the wake of school shooting against the gun violence. Look it up and sign up.

I live in Canada where you can own a gun but there are restriction laws. I know a few guys that hunt, play Olympic Skeet shooting, etc and they don’t complain about restrictions.

I hope that the current “youth quake” will be a veritable tsunami and shake the hell out of a White House currently being inhabited by a demented egotist who has deaf ears for the public good but willingly and eagerly kowtows to the will of the National Rifle Association.
The mentally challenged are all those members of the NRA who feel that it is their constitutional right to bear arms ( these days the AR-15) is the weapon of choice.
Blaming the “mentally ill” can only carry the responsibility only so far.
These days the country has an autistic president who is immune to the wishes of the common man and is readily swayed by the latest nonsensical advice he receives from his corrupted staff members.
