These lovely little Johnny Jump-up (Viola tri-color) plants managed to survive a winter of my neglect. We started these from seed in the fall at the garden where I volunteer and the plants were given to me for my winter planters. One thing and another they never got planted so they sat on our patio table the past 6 months and just recently started to bloom.
I am from Upstate New York and we couldn’t grow flowers outdoors in the winter. Here in South Carolina panseys and violas thrive and are the flower or choice for landscaping color during the fall, winter and spring.
Now that I see how vibrant their colors are I regret not getting all of the plants into the pot. Guess there is still time as it doesn’t appear that the summer heat is coming any time soon.
